Raul Alarcón wins for the second time in his career the Volta Portugal. In an authentic assault to the general leaderboard the W52-FC Porto was able to put five out of its seven racers in the TOP 10 the last day of the race.
Alarcón finished with a one minute and three seconds advantage over Joni Brandão (Sporting-Tavira), who was able to mantain the second palce eventhough Vicente Garcia de Mateos tried to overtake him. In the general leaderboard Mateos repeats the third place of 2017 and the victory in the points classification, while wearing the green T-shirt Rubis Gas. Xuban Errazkin (Vito-Feirense-BlackJack) was able to secure the victory in the youth classification while wearing the white T-Shirt RTP.
The one that was still open was the teams competition, with two seconds of difference between Sporting-Tavira and the W52-FC Porto. In this particular rivalry the ones that came on top were the white and blue ones, which finished with a lead of one minute and fifty-four seconds, this made the crowd give an ovation to the team infront of their president Pinto da Costa.
At the podium Rui was ovated by the crowd when he recived the "Spirit Sacrifice" trophy, which was handed to him by the Portuguese Military to show the value of the racer, who even though suffered a hard fall, continued in the race until the end.
In this Volta a Portugal Gsport was the one in charge of making the maillots.
