Thanks to a great collective effort and a perfect response time, Iúri Leitão was able to finish the Tour of Hellas (Greece) finishing second in the last stage and first overall.
Only the last stage of the 4 remained and the advantage was minimal, but the team from Caja Rural-Seguros RGA he knew what he had to do to achieve victory.
The team's objective was clear from the start of the stage: to protect Iúri controlling the race and securing him a chance in the sprint. They made a getaway that opened up space for six riders, but even so, they managed to keep the situation under control.
Despite Aaron Gate got a nice bonus Iúri he didn't lose his temper and focused solely on his top speed, taking second position on the final stage and taking the team's fourth victory overall.
With this, Iúri manages to add a total of 125 UCI points, leaving a total of 163 that the team has to date.
Iuri Leitão: “I am very happy with what we have achieved. These five days have been a lot of fighting, but we have shown that we are a very strong team and that without everyone's help this would not have been possible. Despite Aaron Gate's bonus in the intermediate sprint, we were confident that we could recover in the final sprint. At the last level I was well accompanied by two companions so as not to spend a lot on arrival. When I started I was able to cover the small gap that was there and although I couldn't win the stage, the general is very important for me and for the team”.
